A card containing the words "True of Vamp"—the moniker given to the fabled progenitor of all vampires—is left at every crime site, despite the deaths' apparent lack of connection. The famous nobleman Dali Delico is called in by the clandestine intelligence organization. The Vlad Agency to head the task force looking into the killings. Dali declines, though, preferring to concentrate on his kids. He is urged to strike a balance between his responsibilities to the agency and raising his children by his former coworkers, Gerhard Fra, Henrique Lorca, and Dino Classico. He agrees, but only if the other three men take care of their kids while the probe is underway. As a result, the four noble vampires use Dali's estate as their headquarters and nursery. In the meantime, a criminal organization that Dali is all too familiar with is hiding in the shadows, threatening to bring about the collapse of vampire society as a whole.
